Tools for Authors: Trello

Today's tool is all about productivity! Trello is a simple but powerful project management tool. Although it wasn't designed specifically for fiction authors, it's a fantastic tool for planning and organizing stories. Trello's drag-and-drop interface allows you to easily set up individual storyboarding cards for everything from plot points to character descriptions. You can then organize these cards across customizable boards representing key parts of your project.

 

Color code the cards based on tags (like genre, draft status, priority level or any category you define) to visually track progress. Move cards around to represent your workflow, from early brainstorming ideas, to research references, outlines/synopses drafting, and finally manuscript writing and edits. Attach images, links and files directly to each card for easy access to all your materials in one place. Membership options even allow collaborating.
